Norton Hospitals’ postgraduate year two (PGY2) oncology pharmacy residency program builds upon Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and postgraduate year one (PGY1) pharmacy residency training to develop clinical pharmacists in the oncology area of practice. PGY2 residencies provide residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings. Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY2 oncology pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic positions or other specialized positions, along with board certification in oncology.
Each resident’s schedule is shaped to allow for progressive development of knowledge and skills and to best prepare them for the next step of their career. Rotational and longitudinal experiences encompass a multitude of oncological disease states, including breast, lung and central nervous system malignancies; leukemias and lymphomas; pediatric malignancy and bone marrow transplant; investigational drug services; medication safety and quality; and practice management. Residents will complete a longitudinal research project. Opportunities exist to mentor and educate students and PGY1 residents through both didactic and practice-based teaching.
All pharmacy residents are eligible for Norton Healthcare’s full employee benefits. Each PGY2 resident is salaried and receives a stipend of $56,100 plus benefits. Applications for the Norton Hospitals PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency Program must be accessed through the Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS). There are no additional application materials required beyond PhORCAS requirements. All candidates will be notified regarding selection for an on-site or virtual interview. Interviews will occur in January and/or February.
The candidate must have completed an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP)-accredited PGY1 program or one in the accreditation process. A copy of the PGY1 residency certificate and Kentucky pharmacist licensure must be provided to the residency program director on or before the first day of starting the PGY2 residency program.

Kelly Bailey, Pharm.D., BCOP
Kelly is a clinical pharmacy specialist in oncology at Norton Cancer Institute – Downtown. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Butler University, Indianapolis, Indiana. She completed a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at Norton Healthcare and a PGY2 oncology pharmacy practice residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. After residency, Kelly worked as a clinical pharmacy specialist in inpatient oncology at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in Ohio. In 2013, Kelly joined Norton Healthcare as an Epic Beacon analyst and holds Epic certifications in Beacon and Willow. In 2017, Kelly joined Norton Cancer Institute as a clinical pharmacy specialist and serves as a preceptor to PGY1 and PGY2 residents.
Becky Champion, Pharm.D., BCOP
Rebecca is a board-certified oncology pharmacist at Norton Cancer Institute. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy, Lexington, and has been with Norton Healthcare for 21 years. She currently serves as the clinical manager at Norton Cancer Institute, where her responsibilities include Epic Beacon protocol management; pharmacy and therapeutics (P&T) review of new medications; and oversight of clinical pharmacy services. Becky is an active member of the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association and the American Society of Hematology.
Stacy Epstein, Pharm.D., BCOP
Stacy is a clinical pharmacist specialist in oncology at Norton Cancer Institute. She received a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, and her doctorate in pharmacy from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy. She completed a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency and a PGY2 hematology/oncology pharmacy residency at the University of North Carolina Medical Center in Chapel Hill. Stacy joined Norton Cancer Institute 2016 and serves as a preceptor to PGY1 and PGY2 pharmacy residents.
Rebecca Juhl, Pharm.D., BCOP
Rebecca is a clinical pharmacy specialist in oncology at Norton Cancer Institute – St. Matthews. She received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Centre College, Danville, Kentucky, and a doctorate in pharmacy from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy. She completed a PGY1 pharmacy residency at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and a PGY2 oncology pharmacy residency at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital in Columbus. Rebecca serves as a preceptor to PGY1 and PGY2 Norton Healthcare pharmacy residents.
LeeAnn Morris, PharmD, BCOP
LeeAnn is a clinical pharmacist specialist in oncology at Norton Cancer Institute, where she is the float specialist and travels to all five of the institute’s clinics, with her primary clinic being in Jeffersonville, Indiana. She received a doctorate in pharmacy from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy. She completed a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at UC Health Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, and a PGY2 hematology oncology pharmacy practice residency at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital in Columbus. LeeAnn joined Norton Cancer Institute in 2019 and serves as a preceptor to PGY1 and PGY2 pharmacy residents.
Kaley Pagan, Pharm.D.
Kaley is a clinical pharmacist specialist in oncology at Norton Cancer Institute and is a former PGY2 resident of the Norton Hospitals Oncology Pharmacy Residency Program. She received a doctorate in pharmacy from the University of Florida, Gainesville, and completed a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at St. Joseph East hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Kaley joined Norton Cancer Institute in 2022 after completion of her PGY2 oncology residency and serves as a preceptor to PGY1 and PGY2 pharmacy residents.
Kami Redecker, Pharm.D., BCOP, BCPS
Kami is a clinical pharmacist specialist at Norton Cancer Institute as well as the director of the PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency Program. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky, and her doctorate in pharmacy from Shenandoah University’s Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy in Winchester, Virginia. She has worked at Norton Healthcare for 17 years and is board certified in pharmacotherapy and oncology. She serves as a preceptor to PGY1 and PGY2 pharmacy residents as well as a preceptor to fourth-year pharmacy students from the University of Kentucky.
Alex Schickli, Pharm.D., BCOP
Alex is a clinical pharmacist specialist at Norton Cancer Institute and specializes in oral anticancer medications. She received a doctorate in pharmacy from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy. She completed a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, and a PGY2 hematology/oncology pharmacy practice residency at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center at the James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
Stephanie Simms, Pharm.D.
Stephanie is a clinical research pharmacist at Norton Cancer Institute. She received her doctorate in pharmacy at Butler University College of Pharmacy. She completed a PGY1 residency at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Georgia. Prior to her employment at Norton Healthcare, she served as pediatric clinical pharmacist covering pediatric oncology and bone marrow transplantation at Duke University, Durham, North Carolina. In 2005, she joined Norton Healthcare at Norton Children’s Hospital, where she served in a variety of capacities within pediatric departments, including pediatric oncology, bone marrow transplantation and medical/surgical services. She has taught and precepted numerous students and residents from a variety of universities and hospitals including Campbell University, Buies Creek, North Carolina; Duke University; University of North Carolina; Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana; Butler University; University of Kentucky; and Sullivan University, Louisville. She has been involved in clinical research (primarily through Children’s Oncology Group) her entire career. In 2022, she transitioned to her current role as clinical research pharmacist at Norton Cancer Institute. She serves as the primary preceptor for the PGY2 oncology investigational drug services rotation.
