Continuing Medical Education (CME)

Our Mission

The Norton Healthcare Center for Continuing Medical, Provider and Nursing Education strives to provide high-quality continuing medical education (CME) opportunities for physicians and other health care providers. These activities are intended to improve competence, performance and/or overall patient outcomes.

It is our goal to meet the health care needs and improve the health status of people in the communities Norton Healthcare serves. By working with our comprehensive medical staff and with our long commitment to quality, strategic partnerships and affiliations, Norton Healthcare is dedicated to serving as a regional leader in providing quality, certified continuing education opportunities. Our activities are built on a platform of scientifically sound, evidence-based medicine, enhancing the provision of patient care.

Accreditation

Norton Healthcare is accredited by the Kentucky Medical Association to provide continuing medical education activities for physicians. Norton Healthcare strictly adheres to the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) policiesaccreditation criteria and standards for commercial support. We have received accreditation with commendation (the highest level) for a six-year term.

The Team

Our goal is to implement and accredit continuing education activities that address professional gaps to improve physician competence, performance and knowledge.

In 2020, the Norton Healthcare Center for Continuing Medical, Provider and Nursing Education provided 1,198.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ for 222 activities. Our activities were attended by 18,013 participants, including 10,292 physicians and 7,721 other health care providers.

Norton Healthcare CME Committee

The CME Committee is a multidisciplinary committee consisting of physicians, clinical staff and leadership representatives who are dedicated to ensuring the integration of CME activities with Norton Healthcare’s strategic initiatives. This includes assistance with the development of policies and procedures that guide the program.
