Norton Provider Leadership Academy

In 2012, Norton Healthcare launched the first Cohort of the Norton Physician Leadership Academy, and in 2020 it became the Norton Provider Leadership Academy (NPLA). This Academy was created to provide clinicians the opportunity to increase their understanding of the business of  medicine and to prepare providers for the changing face of medicine.

Curriculum

The Norton Provider Leadership Academy provides a highly interactive, solutions-based curriculum. Classes are designed to accommodate busy schedules and blend on-site, online and self-study modules based on current management and leadership principles.

The curriculum offers dedicated providers, who are interested in preparing for the future of health care, an opportunity to enhance their leadership competencies and skills. Offered in conjunction with the American Association for Physician Leadership (AAPL), the academy covers different topics in each course, including:

  • The changing role of physician leaders
  • Building effective teams
  • Health care financial management
  • Leading and managing strategic change
  • Engaging physicians and the healthcare team
  • Managing physician and provider performances
  • Duality improvement and measurement systems
