Labor and Delivery Nurses

Labor and delivery nurses play a crucial role during the entire childbirth experience, including early and active labor, delivery and the immediate postpartum period. Norton Healthcare’s labor and delivery nurses are highly trained and committed to providing the best care, as well as comfort and encouragement along the way.

Our No. 1 goal is to deliver healthy babies and help moms navigate the process safely.

The responsibilities of a labor and delivery nurse include:

  • Monitor mom’s and baby’s vital signs
  • Time contractions
  • Coach moms throughout labor and delivery
  • Identify and assist with handling any complications
  • Help administer medications and epidurals
  • Assist doctor or midwife as needed
