Symptoms of Endometriosis

Endometriosis occurs when the tissue that lines the uterus, called the endometrium, grows outside of the uterus on other organs or structures. Most often, endometriosis is found on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, outer surface of the uterus and lining of the pelvic cavity.

These growths are not cancerous but cause pain. The amount of pain is different for every woman and does not depend on the severity of endometriosis. Symptoms include:

• Very painful menstrual cramps
• Chronic pain in the lower back and pelvis
