Arthritis Prevention

No matter your age, staying active is one of the most important things you can do to keep your body healthy. Exercise is essential, whether you are trying to prevent arthritis or want to keep existing arthritis from getting worse. Daily exercise helps keep your joints working properly.

Strengthening the surrounding muscles not only helps support the joints, it also transports nutrients to and waste products from the cartilage — the material that protects and cushions the ends of the bones.

Joint Camp

Norton Joint Camp is a chance for you to learn about what to expect if you’re having hip surgery. You’ll get help preparing yourself and your home for your recovery. You’ll learn ways to minimize pain and recover faster.

Norton Joint Care Program

The Norton Joint Care Program includes comprehensive education and rehabilitation components. That way, you know what to expect before, during and after joint replacement surgery. Our whole-person approach and community atmosphere helps support you each step of the way.

Participation in the program may help you have less pain and a quicker recovery time after surgery. A care team, including physicians, a coach, nurses, care managers, physical therapists, music therapists and others, is dedicated to helping you return to an active life with your new joint.

Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation is a vital part of your care and quick recovery. Carefully following recommendations from your doctor and therapists can greatly improve your ability to get back to your routine as soon as possible.

Each person is different, and depending on the type of surgery you are undergoing, your individual rehabilitation program may be different.

The physical therapy staff will begin working with you and your coach after your surgery to gradually increase your activity. They will review the exercise program, how to move in bed, how to get in and out of bed, and how to walk using a walker, or cane.

With practice and therapy, you will be walking on your own again soon.
