There’s no place like home.
Sometimes, after a hospital stay, you need extra care before you are ready to return home. Swing bed care is a specialty service provided only by select, licensed hospitals. The program provides medically supervised care and is specifically designed to fill the gap between your hospital stay and going home.
During your swing bed stay, hospital staff and medical staff will work together with you to create a treatment plan and health goals specific to your needs. Patients can participate in their own care and continue their recovery before ever leaving the hospital. Most importantly, our focus is improving your physical, nutritional, and medical condition so you can return home, where you want to be.

Norton Scott Hospital is committed to helping you understand and prepare for any medical services you or a loved one may receive at our hospital, including the ability to estimate your out-of-pocket costs for the care you receive.
The Norton Scott Hospital cost estimator is a convenient way for you to estimate your out-of-pocket costs for a procedure or service. This user-friendly tool allows you to search from hundreds of our most commonly accessed services to find out what your estimated out-of-pocket cost is, based on your health insurance coverage. With this tool, you will be able to see the following information for each service:
Our cost estimator is free to use and does not require a user registration or password to access. You will be asked to provide some basic information, including information about your health insurance coverage (if you are insured), to provide the most accurate estimate possible.
If you are unable to locate a service in the cost estimator, you may speak to a patient services representative at (812) 752-9729.
You have the right to receive a “good faith estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
For questions or more information about your right to a good faith estimate, visit CMS.gov/NoSurprises or call 800.985.3059.
While we strongly urge patients to utilize the cost estimator as the most convenient and user-friendly tool for estimating out-of-pocket costs, a complete list of all services and items provided by our hospital, including the five most common charges for those services, is available here, as required by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. A list of all services and items with only nondiscounted charges (i.e., insurance, financial assistance) is also available here. While these lists are most relevant for employers and health care providers, they are accessible to everyone.
