A cancer diagnosis affects the entire family. We understand that patients and their families need a level of care that goes beyond treating the disease.

Norton Cancer Institute offers educational, physical and emotional support services, as well as a variety of events and clinical trials, to you and your family. We provide information, comfort and hope to help ease stress and anxiety.

Norton Cancer Institute Resource Centers

With five area locations, Norton Cancer Institute Resource Centers provide patients and families with the latest information on cancer treatments and support services. Patients and families receive personal attention to address the physical, emotional and spiritual needs before, during and after cancer treatment.

For more information or to find a Norton Cancer Institute Resource Center near you, call (502) 629-HOPE (4673) or email us at cancerresourcex@nortonhealthcare.org.

Patient Navigator Program

Patient navigators offer support and education for patients with any type of cancer. The Norton Cancer Institute Patient Navigator Program is staffed by oncology-certified nurses who are available to help ease stress and offer emotional support for the entire family.

Patients, their caregivers and their family members have access to a navigator as often as needed from the point of a suspicious finding through diagnosis, treatment and survivorship. For more information or to contact a patient navigator, call (502) 629-HOPE (4673).

Online Health and Wellness Sessions

Topics in our online-only events include meditation, nutrition and financial considerations. Find free classes that interest you at our events calendar.

Sexual Health Program

The Norton Cancer Institute Sexual Health Program is committed to addressing your concerns about sexual health as an integral part of your cancer care. We are with you from diagnosis and treatment through survivorship.

Education, consultation and personalized counseling for female cancer patients and their partners can help with changes in sexual health during and after cancer treatment. If you have body image concerns, loss of libido, vaginal dryness or pelvic pain, you may benefit from the Norton Cancer Institute Sexual Health Program.

Medical Social Workers

Our licensed medical social workers provide a wide range of psychosocial support services to you and your family. They work exclusively with cancer/hematology patients and their families to improve quality of life. Our medical social workers guide you to resources available to you and your family throughout your treatment.

Norton Cancer Institute social work services include assistance with:

  • Advance directives
  • Caregiver resources
  • End-of-life care
  • Financial assistance resources
  • Home-care resources
  • Insurance
  • Suspected abuse or neglect
  • Transportation resources

Important times to talk to your medical social worker:

  • When you feel stressed. Call your social worker when you want support through counseling. If you would like counseling from a chaplain or psychologist, your social worker can arrange this for you.
  • When you have money issues related to your health care. Your social worker can explore the resources available to help you and your family.
  • When you have changes to your employment status or insurance. Call your social worker if you have lost your job, decreased your hours at work or have questions about Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), short-term/long-term disability or applying for Social Security disability. A social worker can help if you lose your health insurance and can help identify alternative resources.
